Safer Internet Day 2016 – We played our part & shared a heart!

All Saints Primary School took part in Safer Internet Day 2016 and what a time we had!
The day began with some of our Year 6 pupils encouraging parents to become involved in
#shareaheart campaign, highlighting reasons why they loved the internet. We received a wide range of responses from parents including social media, discovering new information and of course, online shopping!

Our newly formed ‘Digital Directors’ led a whole school assembly which launched SID 2016. The children presentation went down very well and they were highly professional in their roles.
Back in the classroom, the children were engaged in activities which addressed a variety of internet safety issues taken from the Digital Literacy resources and the children presented their work in a variety of formats, including the production of e-safety videos which can be viewed on our website.

Each year group tweeted throughout the day and we were fortunate enough to be re-tweeted and favorited by a number of high profile accounts such as the SWGfL, e-cadets and Sally Holland the Children’s Commissioner of Wales. Each child also shared a heart as part of the social media campaign, highlighting the benefits of the internet, with Y5 sharing a heart at Pizza Express in Cardiff, the Arms Park and from the top of the Principality Stadium!

After school, Mr Davies ran a drop-in session for our families, which addressed the benefits of Twitter and was also on hand to answer any e-safety questions/concerns that parents had.

We thoroughly enjoyed SID 2016 and are very much looking forward to making next year’s event bigger and better!
